Garlic and Pets

INFO: A lot of old and happy dogs/cats have been given garlic for years for the clear benefits to coat, skin,
immune system, eyes, digestion, worming, combat fleas and ticks.
Sadly some people today suggest garlic should NOT be given to dogs and cats and thsi without having the detaield knowledge about amounts, period over which it is given etc.
In order to clear up any confusion, we asked The Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University of Copenhagen to comment.
They recommend Garlic in small doses as there is a clear benefit and as with most things in life it should be given in moderations. For garlic to pose a risk to normal healty dogs/cats one would need to feed daily amounts equal to 5% of the dogs/cats body weight over a sustained period of time.

Example: This means feeding a 40lbs dog 1000g of Garlic daily over a few months and I am sure we all agree that is a bit excessive.
